What is Matter?
Matter is a new smart home standard created by Apple, Google, Amazon, Samsung, and others to make your smart home easier to use. It allows different brands of smart devices to work together smoothly, no matter which platform you use. This means you can mix and match gadgets like smart locks, lights, and thermostats just to name a few, and they’ll all connect seamlessly. Matter also makes setting up devices simpler, improves security, and ensures your smart home is ready for the future.

What Smart Locks are compatible with Matter?
The Linus® L2 Smart Lock supports Matter. Existing Linus® L2 users can enable Matter compatibility through a firmware upgrade.
What features are available with Matter today?
With Matter 1.2, your Linus® L2 Smart Lock supports two distinct actions: "Unlock" and "Open Door." Currently, this feature is available with Home Assistant as a Matter hub.
Why Is the Distinction Between "Unlock" and "Open Door" Important?
The Linus® L2 Smart Lock is designed to work with both handle and knob-style doors, allowing not only locking and unlocking but also the ability to fully open the door. When using the “Open Door” function, the lock turns the key to release the latch, enabling the door to be pushed open effortlessly.
This distinction is especially valuable for European-style locks, which often require a specific action to open the door after unlocking. We’ve worked closely with the Matter organization to incorporate this feature into the new Matter 1.2 standard, which now fully supports both “Unlock” and “Open Door” actions for enhanced compatibility.
