Everyday Use

  • How to add a house to your Yale Home app

When setting up a new device, open the Yale Home app, tap “+”, scan the device QR code, and start setup. Once the device is found, choose “Create a New House”, then name it and add a photo if you like.

  • Can I use Yale Home with Apple Watch?

Yes. Install the Yale Home app on your Apple Watch via the iPhone Watch app, then open it on your watch. Tap the green lock icon to unlock your door, and on compatible locks, tap the red icon to lock.

  • How to Reset a Forgotten Password for the Yale Home account

You can reset your password through the 'forgotten password'  flow on the log-in page of the Yale Home app. Alternatively, use the link below and select forgot password:

    https://account.aaecosystem.com/login

  • How to Delete a Lock from Your Account

If you’re the only owner and no longer need access, you’ll need to factory reset the lock. Stay within Bluetooth range, open the Yale Home app, select the lock, go to Settings > Utilities > Factory Reset, and follow the prompts. This removes the lock and all associated users from your account.

  • How to Add / Remove a House to / from Your Keychain

The Keychain allows you to manage all of your properties or homes in the Yale Home App. If you have multiple properties, you can create keys for all of them in your keychain. Each property added to your keychain will extend the list of keys and you will need to scroll to access them.

    Adding a House

You can add a new House to your Keychain when you set up a new smart lock at that house. Follow steps below:

    1. Open the Yale Home App
    2. Navigate to the Main Menu in the top left corner
    3. Select Set up a Device
    4. Scan the QR code (this is normally found under the battery cover on the lock). If that is not possible, select Can’t Scan the data the type of device you want to set up
    5. Select START
    6. Select Continue and then Begin Setup by allowing the Yale Home App to scan for the new device
    7. Once the App finds the Lock, you will be given a list of all properties already listed in your Yale Home App as well as an option to Create a New House. Select this option to create a new key in your Keychain.
    8. When prompted, give your house a name and photo and then Continue

Continue setting up the device by following the in-App instructions. The next time you open your Yale Home App, you should see the new house in the Keychain. You will also be able to add new devices to this House at set up for new devices going forward.

    Removing a House

If you wish to remove a House from the Keychain in the Yale Home App, you can do so by factory resetting any locks associated with the house. A house disappears when an Owner factory resets all locks associated with the house. Follow instructions for factory reset available at our page for General Info and FAQ.

If you are a guest, the house is removed from your Keychain when you are no longer a Guest of any of the locks associated with the house. Guests may remove themselves from the house via the App as well.

  • How to Set Smart Lock Access Levels

The Yale Access App offers 2 access levels: Owner and Guest. Guest is the default access level for anyone invited to your Smart Lock, but you can update a person's access level when you invite them to your lock or at any time thereafter.

PLEASE NOTE: Guests need to create an account and download the Yale Home App.

Select either iOS or Android (depending on your device) for steps to change Access Levels.
