How do I install the Yale Outdoor Wi-Fi Pro Camera?
Make adjustments to your Yale Digital Door Viewer's capabilities using Advanced Settings. Access the Advanced Settings associated with your View Doorbell Cam by following the steps below:
- Select Doorbell Settings on the HOUSE SETTINGS screen associated with your Doorbell.
- Move Power Savings Mode toggle to the OFF position.
- Select Advanced Settings
Within the Advanced settings screen you can adjust the following functionality of your Yale Digital Door Viewer Cam:
- Motion Sensitivity - Motion Sensitivity controls the amount of movement necessary within the Doorbell Cameras field of view to trigger a Motion Alert and video recording. You can adjust the sensitivity slider up or down: 0 is the least sensitive; 100 is the most sensitive.
- Streaming Quality- Changes the resolution of the video stream that is captured by the Yale Digital Door Viewer Cam:
- Good - Sets the camera resolution to 480 x 640 pixels
- Better - Sets the camera resolution to 720 x 960 pixels
- Best - Sets the camera resolution to 1440 x 1920 pixels
- Auto Night Vision - This toggle turns automatic night vision mode on or off. Night vision mode uses an infrared sensor and LEDs to capture video streams in low light conditions.
- Night Vision Brightness - Controls the brightness of the infrared LEDs. Increasing the brightness of the LEDs increases the distance of objects from the Yale Digital Door Viewer Camera that can be captured in low light conditions. We recommend “Low” or “Medium” settings as they are more than sufficient to illuminate most Doorsteps.
PLEASE NOTE: Changing values in the Advanced Settings page can have an impact on the View Doorbell Cam battery life. For instance: Setting “Motion Sensitivity” to 80%, or “Night Vision Brightness” to “High” draw more battery than lower-level settings.

How to Download and Share Videos?
Your Yale Digital Door Viewer Cam’s recorded videos can be saved to your mobile device. Once downloaded, you can store your videos for future viewing, send them to family and friends, or share them using social media.
Download with iOS
To download your videos:
- Open the Yale Access App and navigate to your Activity Feed (list icon)
- Select the Doorbell Cam video event from the Activity Feed to bring up the event detail screen.
- On the event detail screen, tap the download icon in the top right corner of the video.
The downloaded video is then saved to your iPhone Camera Roll.
PLEASE NOTE: Closing the event detail screen before the download finishes will cancel the download process.

How to Optimize Motion Detection on Your Yale Digital Door Viewer?
Your Yale Digital Door Viewer has the ability to detect and notify you of motion activity at your door by using a Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor to detect heat changes in its field of view. Using heat detection allows for enhanced detection of visitors, while minimizing false alarms caused by changes of light, or tree leaves moving with the wind.
The Motion Sensitivity setting will increase or decrease the range of motion detected. A lower sensitivity setting typically works well in a high-traffic or urban environment (where passing cars or pedestrians may trigger the sensor inadvertently), while a higher sensitivity setting tends to work well in a lower-traffic or rural area. We encourage you to experiment with your Doorbell Cam’s Motion Sensitivity setting to optimize motion detection for your home’s environment.
Motion Sensitivity
To adjust motion sensitivity:
- Open the Yale App and navigate to the Settings menu by selecting the gear icon from the menu at the bottom of the screen.
- Select the doorbell camera settings from available devices.
- Scroll to Advanced Settings.
- Adjust the Motion Sensitivity slider (reduce motion sensitivity for fewer notifications, and increase for more)
PLEASE NOTE: Adjustments made to motion sensitivity will impact battery life of the Yale Digital Door Viewer.
iOS Only: Advanced Settings is exposed when Power Saving Mode is toggled off. If Advanced Settings is unavailable, Power Saving Mode is likely enabled.
Motion Notifications
Motion Notifications can be turned on or off from the doorbell settings. If you’d like to be notified anytime your Yale Digital Door Viewer Cam detects motion activity, leave Motion Notifications on. When you receive a notification that motion has been detected at your doorbell camera, tapping the motion notification will open the Yale App and take you to a live view of your doorstep.
What is the operating temperature of the Outdoor Wi-Fi Camera 4MP?
The Basic Video Recording subscription, which includes 24 hours of saved video history, is free to use with any Yale Digital Door Viewer. To get even more out of your doorbell, upgrade to Premium Video Recording.
Do I need to enter a credit card for the Basic plan?
You do not need to enter your credit card information if you plan to use the Basic Video Recording plan.
How do I view my recorded Digital Door Viewer Cam videos?
Digital Door Viewer videos display in your Activity Feed, along with the activity from all of your other Yale devices. To view the video for a doorbell event, tap on its thumbnail in your Activity Feed and select the play button to watch it.
Can I download my recorded videos?
Yes! Videos from your Activity Feed can be downloaded to your mobile device.
PLEASE NOTE: You need to download videos before they expire. Videos expire within 24hrs, 15 days, or 30 days depending on your subscription plan.
If I upgrade my plan from Basic to Premium or Premium Plus, can I access previously-captured videos in my Activity Feed
No. Previously captured videos do not become accessible once you upgrade your plan. If you want to keep your videos for a longer duration, you need to download them or upgrade to Yale Premium or Premium Plus Video Recording before they expire.
Why can’t I see a recent video in my Activity Feed?
Videos may take a few minutes to process before they become available in your Activity Feed. You may initially see a still image in your Activity Feed before you are able to play the video.
To check for a recently recorded video, open your Activity Feed in the Yale App and refresh by scrolling to the top and pulling down. If you see an event thumbnail, wait for the video to finish uploading. The length of the video and Wi-Fi upload bandwidth both impact the length of time it takes for the video to become available. When the video is ready to view, a play icon will appear on the top of the event thumbnail.

How to Improve Your Wi-Fi Signal - Yale Digital Door Viewer
Doorbells are generally located on the exterior wall of most homes meaning there are typically thick walls and/or a door between the doorbell and Wi-Fi router. These logistics prevent the Wi-Fi signal from being its strongest at the front door. There’s a good chance the Wi-Fi network isn’t optimized for a device located outside your home to upload high quality video. Following the steps in this article should help you improve your Wi-Fi signal to optimize performance of your doorbell camera.
Check your signal strength
You can get a rough idea of your network strength by standing directly next to your doorbell and running a speed test on your mobile device. Make sure you’re connected to your Wi-Fi network, then try a service such as fast.com, speedtest.net, or speedof.me to check your network's upload/download speeds.
Measurements on your phone might differ from the doorbell camera, in part because the doorbell camera typically sits flush against the exterior surface. For best performance, we recommend an upload speed reading of at least 3Mbs on your mobile device.
You can also check the doorbell camera's Wi-Fi RSSI (signal strength) in settings in the Yale Home App.
Improving the Wi-Fi Connection to your Doorbell Camera
1. Test the performance of your doorbell indoors
Try operating your doorbell camera running indoors. If your doorbell camera is able to stay online and stream video more consistently in this configuration, your Wi-Fi signal may not be strong enough at your door.
2. Consider moving your wireless router
Depending on your current setup, moving the location of your wireless router closer to the location of doorbell camera may dramatically increase video streaming performance of your doorbell camera.
3. Use your router's 2.4 GHz band
If your router supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, connecting to your 2.4GHz band can increase your network speed outside your home. 2.4GHz has an easier time traveling through walls and enabling a better signal at your doorbell location.
4. Install a Wi-Fi network extender
You can also improve doorbell camera performance by extending your network’s range near your door. Ideal placement is often about halfway between your router and your doorbell camera. Try different locations and compare results to determine the best final placement.

- If you'd like to walk into a store, this Netgear AC750, available at most BestBuy stores, works well too.
5. Consider upgrading your Internet service plan
If you have an Internet service plan on the slower side, keep in mind that all of your connected devices are sharing that signal and in some cases this can affect the Doorbell Cam's connection. There's a good chance your connection may improve when your overall Internet service is robust.

There are a limited number of installation options that result in the desired customer experience. For optimal performance, a 15ft path of view is ideal. If needed, Yale Digital Door Viewer ships with a wedge mount to assist with positioning the device ideally for your front doorway’s configuration.
Do I need to have an existing doorbell and chime to use the Yale Digital Door Viewer?
The Yale Digital Door Viewer Cam includes a chime. The chime is also completely wire-free and doesn’t require an existing chime circuit.
If you have an existing doorbell circuit, it could be confusing to visitors to that you have two different doorbells. Therefore we recommend that you remove your existing doorbell button.
You can mount the Yale Digital Door Viewer to your exterior wall using either the provided screws or double-sided foam tape (not included, but often available at your local hardware store). First, affix the mounting bracket to the wall, then insert the fully charged battery into the doorbell camera housing. Lastly, slide the doorbell camera to the mounting bracket. If you have an existing doorbell circuit, we recommend removing the button as visitors may find multiple buttons confusing when they arrive at your door.
