    How easy is it to install?

    The Yale Cabinet Smart Lock is designed to offer hassle free installation. As part of this, there is no drilling or damage to the cabinet when installed using the suplied 3M tape, with step by step instructions provided the installation takes less than 5 minutes. 

     

    How is the communication between the lock and the phone secured?

    The Yale Home App and the Smart Cabinet lock use multiple levels of encryption technologies to ensure the security of Bluetooth.

    How many properties and devices can I have attached to my account?

    Technically, there is no limit to the number of properties on one Yale Access Account. If you have multiple properties, you can create keys for all of them in your Yale Access App. Each property added will extend the list of keys in your keychain and you will need to scroll to access them. Similarly, there is no limit to the number of devices that you can add to a property.

    How often do I need to change the batteries on my Yale Smart Cabinet Lock?

    The cabinet lock batteries will last approximately 12 months with regular use. If the battery is low, a series of warning beeps will sound.

    What is the warranty?

    In Europe you have a 2 year waranty from the date of purchase

    What does the Yale Smart Cabinet Lock Allow customers to do?

    The Yale Smart Cabinet lock will allow customers to lock doors and items that they were not able to lock previously. This includes kitchen cabinets, closets, drawers, and most importantly, the Yale Delivery Box.

    Is my cabinet/drawer compatible?

    If you are only installing your cabinet lock with the provided 3M tape, then the thickness of the cabinet does not matter.

    How much pulling force can the Yale Smart Cabinet Lock withstand?

    Smart Cabinet Lock can withstand up to 45kg of pulling force.

    Why did I receive a second lock post?

    In the event your first post breaks, we have included a second post for your convenience.

    What is the longer post used for?

    The longer post provided with the Smart Cabinet lock is used for cabinets that have a face frame or lip. This post can support face frames up to 1” tall and 1 ¼” deep. To install this post, place the post inside the hole in the smart cabinet lock. Place the smart cabinet lock behind the face frame and then close the cabinet door to adhere the post to the cabinet door.

    What type of batteries does the Yale Smart Cabinet Lock use?

    1 Lithium CR-2 battery.

    How often do I need to change the batteries on my Yale Smart Cabinet Lock?

    The cabinet lock batteries will last approximately 12 months with regular use. If the battery is low, a series of warning beeps will sound.

    How do I change the batteries on my Yale Smart Cabinet Lock?

    Remove the cabinet lock from the mounting bracket. Open the battery compartment door and remove the existing battery and then replace with a new battery. Once the new battery is installed, close the battery compartment door and re-mount.

    What if my batteries die?

    The cabinet lock will automatically unlock, if the batteries get to a certain level and are not changed. This feature can be turned off via the Yale Home App. In the event, you turn off this features and the batteries die, you will need to pull your cabinet door open until the post is released, by force, from the lock body. The cabinet lock was designed, to allow the post to break after a certain amount of force. In the event, your post breaks, we have included a second post, just in case!

    Why is my cabinet/drawer always locked when I close the cabinet/drawer?

    The automatic relock feature is turned on by default. This means, every time you close your cabinet/drawer the cabinet/drawer is locked. You can turn this feature off from the Yale Home App. Note, if you turn this feature off, the only way to lock the cabinet lock will be from the Yale Home App.

    Can I install the Yale Smart Cabinet Lock on a double door cabinet?

    Yes, you can install the smart on a double door cabinet by using the double door plate that is provided in the hardware kit. Simply, install the plate with the provided screws or double-sided tape on the door opposite of the smart cabinet lock. The double door plate, will hold the second door in place and locked when the smart cabinet lock is locked. Once you unlock the smart cabinet lock you will be able to open both cabinet doors.

    I have a lip on the front of my cabinet and the post does not reach the cabinet lock body. Can I still use the Yale Smart Cabinet Lock on my cabinets?

    Yes, we have provided a longer post in the Smart Cabinet lock hardware kit. Use this post for any cabinets with a lip or face frame. This post can support face frames up to 1” tall and 1 ¼” deep. To install this post, place the post inside the hole in the smart cabinet lock. Place the smart cabinet lock behind the face frame and then close the cabinet door to adhere the post to the cabinet door.

    What is the small black reset button on the underside of the Smart Cabinet Lock?

    There is a small black button on the underside of the Smart Cabinet Lock. This button is often mistaken for a lock reset button which is not the case. This button is actually used for deleting the Homekit integration if one has been set up.

    To reset the Homekit integration press and hold the small black button for 5 seconds , if the procedures was executed correctly, you will see the button on the top of the lock flash red with a series of bleeps, the lock will then reboot.

    What is the warranty period?

    How Do I Access My Yale Lock Remotely

    The Yale Home App will seamlessly connect over the best method available, choosing between Bluetooth and Wi-Fi automatically. Simply open the app and navigate to your lock screen and the Yale Home App will do the rest for you.

    The icon in the upper right of the lock screen indicates how you are currently connected to your lock.

    What are the Different Types of Guest Access?

    Access levels and schedules determine how much access a lock user has as well as when they have permission to control the lock.

    Yale offers 2 access levels: Owner and Guest. A lock Owner has full access to the lock and Guests have limited access (outlined under Access Levels). Only lock Owners can invite Guests to a lock. When inviting Guests, you can customize their access level and choose to be notified when they operate your lock.

    There are also different Access Schedules: Always, Recurring, and Temporary (outlined under Access Schedules).

    Access Levels
    Owners

    Lock Owners are users who:

    • Can lock and unlock door via Yale Home App
    • Can lock and unlock door via Personal Entry Code (Using Smart Keypad)
    • Can use Auto-Unlock
    • Can invite/remove other owners
    • Can control all lock settings
    • Can view activity feed
    • Can view guest list

    Guests

    Guest is the default access level for anyone invited to your Yale Smart Lock, but you can update a person's access level when you invite them to your lock or at any time thereafter. Guest users:

    • Can lock and unlock door via Yale Home App*
    • Can lock and unlock door via Personal Entry Code (Using Smart Keypad)
    • Cannot use Auto-Unlock
    • Cannot invite/remove other owners
    • Cannot control all lock settings
    • Cannot view activity feed
    • Cannot view guest list

    *Cellular data or an Internet connection is required. Due to the 3 Guest Access Schedules, our servers need to verify that the guest is connecting during the timeframe that they are authorized.

    Access Schedules
    Always - Guests will have unlimited access, but the owner can change or delete their access at any time.

    Recurring - Guests will have a scheduled access that repeats. i.e. guests will be invited every Tuesday for a short period of time.

    Temporary - Guests will have a limited invitation to your home that expires. i.e. guests will have access for a one time use, limited to the date and time you've selected.
