  • How do I fully arm (AWAY) my Yale Smart Alarm System?

    There are a number of ways to do this depending on the accessories you have linked to your system:

    • To fully arm your system from within the Yale Home app press AWAY on the Yale Alarm dashboard screen or favourite screen.
    • To fully arm your system using the Yale Keypad, press the AWAY arm button on the Yale Keypad followed by your alarm code.
    • To fully arm your system using the Yale Keyfob, press the AWAY arm button followed by your alarm code.
  • How do I part arm (Home) my Yale Smart Alarm System?

    There are a number of ways to do this depending on the accessories you have linked to your system:

    • To part-arm your system from within the Yale Home app, press HOME on the Yale Alarm dashboard screen or favourite screen.
    • To part-arm via the Yale Keypad, press the HOME arm button on the Yale Keypad, followed by your alarm code.
    • To part-arm via the Yale Keyfob press the HOME arm button, followed by your alarm code.
  • How do I disarm my Yale Smart Alarm System?

    There are a number of ways to do this depending on the accessories you have linked to your system:

    • To Disarm via the Yale Home app press Disarm on the Yale Alarm dashboard screen or favourite screen.
    • To Disarm via the Yale Keypad, press the Disarm button on the Yale Keypad followed by your alarm code.
    • To Disarm via the Yale Keyfob press the Disarm button followed by your alarm code.
  • How do I add more users to my Yale Smart Alarm System?

    In the Yale Home app, navigate to guest management highlighted in grey below and click invite.

    You can grant access to a user via a number of methods:

    • Yale Home app access
    • Alarm code access when a Yale Alarm Keypad is installed
    • Via a dedicated Yale Keyfob specific to that user.

    Users set up with alarm code access will be assigned a dedicated keypad code that can only be used on the Yale Alarm Keypad. The user may be granted access at a specific time using the options:  Always, Recurring or Temporary access schedule, where you can select specific times and days access is to be granted. 

    Users set up with Yale Home app access can be invited as an owner or a guest and be granted access at a specific time using the options:  Always, Recurring or Temporary access schedule where you can select specific times and days access is to be granted.

  • How do I remove a user from my Yale Smart Aalrm system?

    In the Yale Home app, navigate to guest management highlighted in grey below, here you will find a list of users, select the user you want to remove. 

  • How do I remove an Alarm accessory?

    Within the Yale Home app, go to Device Settings, select the accessory to be removed then select Disconnect Device. 

  • How do I change an alarm entry code for the Yale Smart Alarm system?

    In the Yale Home app, navigate to 'Guest Management' (icon in bottom navigation bar). Select the Home Owner. In the Yale Alarm section you will see the Entry Code you have previous input - you can now edit this. 

  • How do I link other Yale devices into my Yale Smart Alarm?

    Within the Yale Home app under each product setting you can select Home Integrations, this will allow you to link different connected Yale products together, for example, disarm your Yale Smart Alarm when you unlock your Yale Smart Lock.

    The Yale Home Integrations menu appears in settings if you have other Yale devices (Smart Camera, Smart doorlock) set up in the same house as the Yale Smart Alarm. If there are no other Yale devices set up in the same house the Yale Home Integrations menu will not be visible. 

  • I have forgotten my user / account password for the Yale Home app?

    You can reset your password from the Yale Home app login screen by choosing the 'Forgot Password menu'.

  • How do I view the battery levels of my Yale Smart Alarm accessories?

    The battery level is displayed in the settings menu for each accessory within the Yale Home app under Device Information, this is displayed as a percentage.

  • Can I utilise the Yale Keypad to have a panic function?

    Yes, to activate panic press and hold the 2 panic buttons (circled yellow below) for 2 seconds.

  • How do I see my devices status?

    Within the Yale Home app on the alarm dashboard screen a dynamic banner will show the device status. i.e. alert you if any doors/windows are open.

  • Can I extend my entry / exit time on the Yale Smart Alarm?

    Yes to do this, in the Yale Home app, go into Device Settings > Security Areas > select the security area you want to change > under modes you can change the entry and exit delay time from immediate ( 0 seconds) to 120 seconds.

  • Would I be able to alarm my house and my garden building or shed using just one Yale Smart Alarm hub?

    Yes, you can protect different areas of your home using one Yale Smart Alarm Hub; you can assign the accessories up to 4 different security areas. (For example house, garage, shed).

    The accessory devices communicate via Horizon + Technology, 2-way radio frequency operating on 868 MHz which gives a range of approximately 1km with a clear line of sight.

  • I am moving house and need to hand over the Yale Smart Alarm to the new owner, how do I remove myself from the unit?

    The convenient method to do this is to obtain the phone number of the new owner and invite them to Yale Home app and the Alarm system as an owner. Once they have access to the system ask the new owner to remove you from the system. 


    Alternatively, if you don't know the new owner, within the Yale Home app and your house, select the Yale Alarm Hub >Settings>Utilities>Factory Reset, this will restore the unit back to factory settings.

    Note: The alarm system will not be able to be armed once reset to factory settings until it is set up again with a new owner. 

  • Does the Yale Smart Alarm have battery backup?

    Yes, if the main power is disconnected, the internal battery of the Yale Smart Alarm Hub will provide power for approximately 12 hours if charged.

  • Does the Yale Smart Alarm Hub have an internal siren built in?

    Yes, the Smart Alarm Hub has an internal siren, which is great for apartments or shared accommodation where it is not possible to install an outdoor siren. 

  • What batteries do my Yale Alarm accessories take and what is expected battery life?

Yale Smart Alarm Accessories

  • How do I change the batteries of my Yale Smart Alarm accessories?

    Make sure the Yale Smart Alarm is in disarmed mode first, then you may open up the accessory that requires a battery change and replace the batteries. 

    Tutorials can be found in the Yale Home app. Navigate to the settings menu (accessed by pressing the small gear icon) select your Yale Smart Alarm accessories, scroll down to Installation Guides, and view the in-app videos and images that show you how to open each accessory.

  • How do I enable a button lock on my Yale Keyfob?

    The Yale Keyfob has the ability to lock the buttons to prevent you from pressing them when in your pocket or bag. To activate this feature, press the hold the HOME arm (part arm) button down for 3 seconds. This will lock the buttons and the red LED will flash. To unlock the buttons press and hold the HOME arm (part arm) down for 3 seconds the green LED will flash to indicate the buttons are unlocked.  

  • Will the Yale Smart Alarm need to be armed for the Yale Smoke Sensors to be active?

    No, the Yale Smoke Sensors are active all of the time regardless of the alarm status.

    The main benefit of linking the Yale Smoke Sensor to your Yale Smart Alarm system is for remote monitoring. You will be alerted via the Yale Home app if the Smoke Sensor has been triggered. 

  • How loud are each of the Yale Smart Alarm sirens?

    The internal siren built into the Yale Smart Alarm Hub is 100db.

    The Yale Indoor Siren is 85db.

    The Yale External Siren is 100db.

  • Does the Yale Outdoor Siren have a visual LED?

    Yes, when mains powered (power adapter sold separately) the 'Yale' logo on the siren will remain illuminated between 6pm and 8am.

    If battery powered, a comfort LED will flash blue. When the alarm is triggered, the blue strobe will flash as well as the 'Yale' logo (even when battery-powered)

  • Can I extend my entry / exit time on the Yale Smart Alarm?

  • How loud is the Yale Smoke sensor?

    The siren built into the Yale Smoke Sensor is 85db.

  • Can I have more than one Yale Smoke Sensor in different areas of my house?

    Yes, you can, all sensors are linked together so if one is triggered, all the smoke sensors will sound at the same time.

  • Can the Yale Button be used outside?

    Yes, the Yale Button is designed to be used indoors or outdoors.

    You also have the option to use it as a Doorbell.

  • What is the use case for the Yale Button?

    The Yale Button is versatile, you can use it as a Panic button to trigger the alarm or use it as a Doorbell to alert you when someone is at the door.

    Within the Yale Home application in settings select the Use Type,  you can change this at any time. 

  • Can I use two Yale Buttons on the same alarm system, one as a Doorbell and one as a Panic button?

    Yes, certainly. You can configure multiple Yale Buttons to meet your requirements.

  • What are the features on the Yale Keyfob?

    The Yale Keyfob is a convenient way to Fully Arm (AWAY), Part Arm (HOME), Disarm, and activate panic your alarm.

  • What waterproof rating is the Yale Outdoor Door Contact?

    The rating is IP55.

  • What waterproof rating is the Yale Outdoor Motion Sensor?

    The rating is IP55.

  • How does the Yale pre break in sensor function and where could it be used?

    The Yale Pre break-in sensor has two main functions:

     1: It can be used as Door or Window contact, to detect a door or window being opened

    2: It can be used as a shock sensor to detect bangs, knocks, and vibrations such as someone attempting to force a window open or smash the glass. 

    We recommend mounting the Pre break-in sensor on the window frame.

  • What is the red button on the rear of the Yale Smart Alarm Hub used for?

    This is the anti-tamper button that connects to the mounting plate, if this is not depressed you will receive a tamper alert and your alarm will activate.

  • What is the blue button on the rear of the Yale Smart Keypad used for?

    This is the anti-tamper button that connects to the mounting plate, if this is not depressed you will receive a tamper alert, if your alarm is armed at the time, the alarm will be activated.

  • What is the blue button on the rear of the Yale Door Contact used for?

    This is the anti-tamper button that connects to the mounting plate, if this is not depressed you will receive a tamper alert, if your alarm is armed at the time, the alarm will be activated.

  • What is the grey button on the rear of the Yale Indoor Siren used for?

    This is the anti-tamper button that connects to the mounting plate, if this is not depressed you will receive a tamper alert and your alarm will activate.
