    How to disconnect your Smart Fingerprint Keypad

    To disconnect the device from the lock, you must be within Bluetooth range of the keypad. 

    1) Open the Yale Home app.

    2) Tap the gear in the toolbar and select “Keypad Settings.”

    3) Select Reset Keypad under Utilities (you may need to scroll down the list)

    4) Select “Reset”. The keypad will then be reset.

    5) The message “Reset successfully” will appear on the screen.

    This completes the disconnection process and your keypad is no longer connected to your lock.

    Resetting a Yale Smart Fingerprint Keypad  will delete all access codes associated with that keypad.

    How to set time-limited keypad access codes

    Yale Smart Lock owners have the option to assign permanent, temporary and recurring access codes.

    If you have a keypad connected to a Yale Smart Lock, you can follow the instructions below to add an access code.

    • Navigate to the guest list.
    • Click on the user whose access code you want to manage.
    • Tap “Access Plan.”
    • Choose Permanent, Recurring, or Temporary.
    • The schedule you choose applies to both app access and access code.

    How to update the firmware on your Yale Smart Fingerprint Keypad

    To update the firmware of your Yale Smart Keypad 2 – Fingerprint, please follow the steps below:

    • Open the Yale Home app when you are within Bluetooth range of the keypad and go to the lock status screen for the lock to which the keypad is connected.
    • If an update is available, you will be prompted to update with the keypad firmware update notification. Tap Start.
    • Stay on the update screen until the update is complete.

    How do I temporarily disable the Yale Smart Keypad 2?

    If you need to temporarily disable your keypad, you must be within Bluetooth range of your keypad to complete the following steps:

    • Open the Yale Home app
    • Select the house from your keychain
    • Click the Settings tab (gear icon) at the bottom of the screen
    • From the Settings menu, select Keypad Settings.
    • Toggle the Enabled option for the keypad to Off.
    • The keypad is now deactivated. To re-enable the keypad, go through the steps again and toggle the Enabled option for the keypad to On.

    PLEASE NOTE: One-touch locking will also be disabled after you disable the keypad.

    How do I know that the keypad batteries need to be replaced?

    If the Yale Smart Keypad 2's batteries are low, the battery icon on the keypad will flash red and a beep will sound.

    Additionally, owners will see a pop-up message about the low battery level in the app and receive an email notification.

    The battery level can also be checked in the Settings menu for the associated keypad in the Yale Home app.

  • How to setup and use a personal entry code

    During the onboarding process of the Yale Smart Keypad 2, you are given the option to set a personal Entry Code, you then have the option to change the personal entry code at a later date via the Yale Home App. 

    Below is a guide to find, update, and use your personal Entry Code.

    To find your Personal Entry Code:

    1. Open up the Yale Home App
    2. Select the house from the keychain
    3. Go to the Guest List
    4. Select yourself from the guest list to open the MY ACCESS menu.

    Your personal entry code(s) appears below the associated lock. Depending on the settings on the lock, it may be blanked out as a security precaution. If this is the case you will need to authenticate with your phones passcode/biometrics to view the code. If you want to update an existing personal entry code, follow the steps above, then:

    1. Select the Entry Code tab which will open the Entry Code management menu.
    2. Press Manage Entry Code
    3. Enter a new code in the Entry Code field (Entry codes need to be between 4 and 8 digits and a user may have up to 220 entry codes on a lock.)
    4. Select save changes 

    To use your Personal Entry Code

    1. Enter your personal entry code on the keypad
    2. Press the tick button on the keypad
    3. The keypad lights will flash Green when the lock operation has been completed. (Note - If you have enabled keypad sounds within the Yale Home App settings menu, the keypad will also bleep when the lock operation has completed)
  • How do I send my guest a personal access code?

    Adding a personal entry code for a keypad only access:

    Follow the steps below to give a Guest keypad access using only an Entry Code:

    1. Go to the Guest List menu in the Yale Home App, and select Invite.
    2. Select Entry Code Only.
    3. From here you have the option to invite a Guest from your phone's existing contacts list, or manually enter a Guest's name.
    4. Select continue, on the next page you will see a list of locks to which you can assign an Entry Code. 
    5. Tap Entry Code to set up a new code for your Guest.
    6. Select the access schedule for the Entry Code, this can be Always, Recurring, or Temporary.
    7. Select Save Entry Code (Note you also have the option to select Text Code to Guest at the same time)
    8. Congratulations you have now set up a keypad Access Entry Code, the new Guest's name will appear in your Guest list with a # symbol next to it. 

    Adding a personal entry code with a Yale Home:

    If you want to invite your Guest to the Yale Home App and the keypad, follow the steps below:

    1. Go to the Guest List menu in the Yale Home App, and select Invite. 
    2. Select App Access.
    3. From here you have the option to invite a Guest from your phone's existing contacts list, or manually enter a Guest's mobile number.
    4. Select continue, on the next page you will see a list of locks for which you can grant App access. 
      • Here you can select the app access level as a Guest or Owner
      • Here you can set the access schedule as Always, Recurring, or Temporary.
    5. Tap send invite (note the send invite icon varies between operating systems).
    6. The new Guests will now appear in your guest list.
    7. Select the new Guest name, this will open the Guests access menu
    8. Select Entry Code, here you can use the suggested code or enter your own 4 - 8 digit code.
    9.  Select Save Entry Code.
    10. Congratulations you have now set up Yale Home App access with an Entry Code, the Guest's name will appear in your guest list with a hash symbol next to it. 
  • How do I delete entry codes?

    Lock Owners can delete and update keypad Entry Codes from within the Yale Home. 

    To make changes to entry codes for specific Guests:

    1. Open the Yale Home App and navigate to the Guest list for the keypad.
    2. Find the Guest entry for the code you wish to make changes to.
    3. Next, select the entry code, Manage Entry Code.
    4. Press Deactivate Entry Code to delete the Entry Code.
  • How to setup and use a personal fingerprint

    During the onboarding process of the Yale Smart Keypad 2, you are given the option to register your Fingerprint, if you skip this process you then have the option to register your Fingerprint at a later date via the Yale Home App. 

    Follow the steps below to register, and use your Personal Fingerprint.

    To find the Personal Fingerprint Registration option:

    1. Open the Yale Home App
    2. Select the house from the keychain
    3. Go to the Guest List
    4. Select yourself from the guest list to get to MY ACCESS

    Your personal Fingerprint option appears below the lock that the keypad is associated to.

    1. Select the Fingerprint tab.
    2. From here you can remove a previously registered Fingerprint and register a new Fingerprint.
    3. Follow the in App process to Register your new Fingerprint.
    4. Once you have successfully registered your Fingerprint, a yellow Fingerprint icon will appear next to your name in the guest list. 

    To use your Personal Fingerprint

    1. Place your registered finger on the Fingerprint sensor on the keypad
    2. Remove your finger. 
    3. The keypad lights will flash Green when the lock operation has been completed. (Note - If you have enabled keypad sounds within the Yale Home App settings menu, the keypad will also bleep when the lock operation has completed)
  • How to setup and use a personal fingerprint for guests

    During the onboarding process of the Yale Smart Keypad 2, the Owner is given the option to register a Guest's Fingerprint, if you skip this process you have the option to register a guest's Fingerprint at a later date via the Yale Home App.

    Note - Only an owner can register a guest's fingerprint, the guest will need to be within accessible range of the keypad in order register their fingerprint when promted via the Yale Home app.

    In order to set up a Fingerprint for a Guest, you must first set up the Guest to have Yale Home App access. 

    1. Go to the Guest List menu in the Yale Home App, and select the Invite button.
    2. Select App Access.
    3. From here you have the option to invite a Guest from your phone's existing contacts list, or manually enter a Guest's mobile number.
    4. Select continue, on the next page you will see a list of locks for which you can grant App access. 
      • Here you can select the app access level as a Guest or Owner.
      • Here you can set the access schedule as Always, Recurring, or Temporary.
    5. Tap send invite (note the send invite icon varies between operating systems).
    6. The new Guests will now appear in your guest list.
    7. Select the new Guest's name, this will open the Guest's access menu.
    8. Select Fingerprint, (Note - from here you can remove a previously registered fingerprint and register a new Fingerprint).
    9. Follow the in-app process to Register your guests Fingerprint. at this stage the Guest will need physically place their finger on the keypad for the registration process. 
    10. Once you have successfully registered your Guest's Fingerprint, a yellow Fingerprint icon will appear next to their name in the Guest list.
  • Hwo do I delete a fingerprint?

    Note only the owner of the keypad can delete a registered fingerprint. 

    1. Open the Yale Home App
    2. Select the house from the keychain
    3. Go to the Guest List
    4. Select yourself or your Guest from the Guest list to get to the access settings menu
    5. Select the Fingerprint tab.
    6. From here you can remove a previously registered Fingerprint by tapping Unregister Fingerprint
  • How do I set timed access?

    Yale Smart Lock owners have the ability to issue Always OnTemporary, and Recurring entry codes. If you have a keypad connected to a Yale Smart Lock, you can follow the instructions below to add an entry code.

    1. Navigate to the Guest List.
    2. Click on the user whose entry code access you want to manage.
    3. Tap on Access Schedule.
    4. Choose AlwaysRecurring, or Temporary.
    5. The schedule you choose will apply for both App Access and Entry Code Access.
  • How do I remove a Yale Smart Fingerprint Keypad from my Smart Lock and Yale Home Account?

    PLEASE NOTE: You must be within Bluetooth range of the keypad in order to disconnect the device from the lock. The following steps will disconnect your keypad from your lock:

    1. Open the Yale Home App.
    2. Tap the gear in the icon bar and select Keypad Settings.
    3. Select Reset Keypad found under Utilities (you may need to scroll down the list).
    4. Select Reset. The keypad will then be reset.
    5. You will see a successfully reset message on the screen, this completes the disconnection process and your keypad is no longer connected to your lock.

    Note - Resetting a Yale Smart keypad 2 will delete all entry codes affiliated with that keypad. If you wish to reset your keypad, do so as a last resort only. A factory reset of your keypad will result in the deletion of all codes associated with the keypad. 

  • How do I adjust the Settings on the Yale Smart Fingerprint Keypad?

    To find and adjust the Yale Smart Keypad 2 settings:

    • Select the Settings tab (gear icon)
    • Tap the keypad icon

  • What is One-Touch Locking?

    The Yale Smart Keypad 2 - Fingerprint includes the capability to enable One-Touch Locking, meaning you can lock your Smart Lock just by pressing the Yale button on the bottom of the keypad.

    One-Touch Lock notifications are turned off by default, but notifications can be enabled in the keypad Settings.

    One-Touch Lock notifications will only be received by the person who set them and your smart lock must have either built-in WiFi (Linus L2) or a Yale Wi-Fi Bridge connected to receive One-Touch Lock notifications.

    Note - this feature is lock-dependent 

  • How does the Doorbell feature work on the Keypad?

    The Doorbell feature can be used if the associated Lock is connected to a network with a Yale Wi-Fi Bridge (or using built-in Wi-Fi).

    Once enabled in the keypad Settings via the Yale Home App, The Doorbell icon will illuminate on the keypad upon approach, when pressed,  you will receive a notification on your phone to alert you that someone has pressed the Doorbell on your keypad. The keypad will also emit a sound when the Doorbell is pressed. 

    If you also have an Alexa or Google integration, pressing the doorbell can play a sound over those speakers as well.

  • How do I update the firmware?

    To update your Yale Smart Keypad 2 - Fingerprint firmware please perform the following steps:

    • Open the Yale Home App when you’re within Bluetooth range of the keypad and go to the lock status screen for the lock the keypad is connected to.

    • If there is an update available you will be prompted with the keypad firmware update alert, tap “start”.

    • Remain on the update screen until the update is complete.

    Troubleshooting:

    • If the firmware update process is interrupted you'll need to start over. 

    • If the update doesn't begin, try pressing the Yale button on the front of the keypad for 10 seconds.

  • How to enable hidden entry codes

    With the Hidden Entry Codes lock feature, you have the option to add an extra layer of security to view personal entry codes in the App by adding your phone's authentication. When the Hidden Entry Codes lock feature is enabled, your phone’s authentication is needed to:

    1. View user entry codes

    2. Disable the feature

    When this feature is disabled, Entry Codes are visible when you select the entry code in a Guest’s Profile. Enabling Hidden Entry Codes provides an extra layer of security for you and other Owners of your lock because authentication is required to view entry codes.

    What products can I enable this feature for?

    This setting works with any Yale Lock, or Yale Smart Keypad, set up to work with the Yale Home App via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

    Who can see the Entry Codes of all users?

    When this setting is enabled, any Lock Owner can see another user’s Entry Code after authentication. 

    How do I enable this feature?

    To enable the Hidden Entry Code feature:

    1. Open the Yale Home App

    2. Go to Settings by pressing the gear icon

    3. Select a Lock (with either an associated keypad or a lock with a built in keypad)

    4. Under the Security settings, toggle Hidden Entry Codes on

    After you enable this feature, your phone’s authentication setting will run when you tap on the entry code in the profile.

    PLEASE NOTE: If the lock is not paired to an Wi-Fi bridge, a Bluetooth connection is required to see the Entry Code.

    If I enable this feature, will it be enabled for other lock users?

    If you enable the Hidden Entry Code feature in your settings, the feature will also be enabled for other Owners of the associated lock.

    I enabled this feature, but now it is disabled. Why?

    If you enabled the Hidden Entry Code setting, but it has been disabled, it is likely that another lock Owner disabled the feature in their settings

  • How do I check the battery level?

    You can check the battery level in the keypad settings menu via the Yale Home app, the battery level will be displayed as Full, Medium, or Low.

  • How do I know when the batteries need to be replaced?

    When the Yale Smart keypad 2 batteries are running low, The battery symbol on the keypad flashes red and an audible tone plays. In addition to this, Owners will also see an in-app low battery message pop up and receive an email notification. The Battery level can also be checked in the Settings menu for the associated keypad in the Yale Home App.

  • How many individual codes can I set up?

    The Yale Smart Keypad 2, facilitates access to up to 220 unique 4-6 digit codes, which are stored on the smart lock that the keypad is associated with.

  • How many fingerprints can I set up?

    The Yale Smart Keypad 2, can facilitate up to 10 Fingerprints, with only 1 Fingerprint registered per user. The Fingerprint credentials are safely encrypted and stored on the keypad. 

  • What do I do if I reach my Entry Code or Fingerprint limit?

    The Entry code limit for the Yale Smart Keypad 2 is 220 unique codes. The Fingerprint limit is 10. 

    Once the limit is reached, existing codes or Fingerprints will need to be removed to make room for new ones.

    Note - After deleting a code or Fingerprint, it is helpful to refresh the keychain to push changes as they are made.

  • What does the light on the Keypad indicate?

    The keypad displays the following light activity:

    Green LED indicator: Entry Code or Fingerprint accepted

    If the Entry code or Fingerprint is correct the keypad LED indicator bar at the top will flash Green if the correct Entry code or Fingerprint is used. 

    Red LED indicator: Entry Code or Fingerprint not accepted

    If the Entry code or Fingerprint is incorrect, the keypad LED indicator bar at the top will flash Red.

    Red Battery Indicator: Batteries are low

    If the batteries in the keypad are running low and need to be replaced, the battery icon in the top bar of the keypad will light up red continuously. 

  • Where can I find my Keypad serial number?

    Information about your keypad such as the serial number is available in the Yale Home App. Follow these steps to find your keypad's serial number:

    1. Open the Yale Home App

    2. Select the house from your Keychain

    3. Click on the settings tab (Gear Icon) at the bottom of the screen

    4. Select the keypad to open the device's settings menu

    5. The keypad's serial number is displayed below Device Information

    Alternatively, your keypad's serial number can be found on the back of the device under the battery cover.

  • How do I temporarily disable my Keypad?

    In the event that you need to temporarily disable your keypad, you need to be within Bluetooth range of your keypad in order to complete the following steps:

    1. Open the Yale Home App

    2. Select the house from your Keychain

    3. Click on the settings tab (Gear Icon) at the bottom of the screen

    4. In the Settings Menu, choose keypad Settings.
    5. Toggle the keypad Enabled option to "Off".
    6. The keypad is now disabled. To re-enable the keypad, go back through the steps and toggle keypad Enabled to "On".

    PLEASE NOTE: One Touch Lock will also be disabled after you disable the keypad.

  • How do I remove the battery cover?

    When installing the keypad for the first time, you can remove the battery cover using the pull tab. However if the pull tab is no longer attached, or if the keypad is installed onto a property, you need to use the removal pin supplied in the box.

  • How do I replace the batteries?

    The Yale Smart Keypad 2 requires 4 x AAA batteries. We recommend replacing all batteries each time the batteries are replaced.

    To remove and replace the batteries in your keypad:

    1. Push in the tab at the bottom of the keypad to release the keypad from the back panel, this will give you access to the battery compartment built into the rear of the keypad.

    2. Remove the old batteries and Insert 4 brand new AAA batteries

    3. Clip the keypad back onto the back panel
